    Girls' Varsity Plays Westview

    On August 19, the Trinity School girls' varsity soccer team played Westview High School in their first conference game of the season. Trinity was down by one at the half, but after halftime they came out strong. Katie Was scored the first goal in the 53rd minute and was assisted by Sophie Busk. Melissa Thomas scored the winning goal in the 76th minute with an assist by Marilyn Preuss. This 2 to 1 win is a solid victory since Westview is one of the most competitive teams that they play every year. The girls start their conference season 1-0 and are 2-0 in the season overall. -Katherine Couch ('12)

    Junior Varsity Girls' Soccer Update

    The junior varsity also played Northwood in their first game of the season. The girls played amazingly well as a team, looking out for one another's weaknesses and utilizing all their combined strengths. The teams were very well matched. Northwood scored its only goal when the box was overcrowded and Trinity’s keeper, Lucy Anderson, was blocked from grabbing the ball. The girls lost the game 1-0 but played exceedingly well under the wet conditions.

    Varsity Girls' Soccer Update

    The Trinity School girls' varsity soccer team played Northwood High School's varsity on the morning of August 21. The day dawned gray and overcast with a light rain that slowly soaked the players and made for slick playing conditions. Northwood scored three goals in a five-minute period during the first half. The Titans played well throughout the rest of the game, but were unable to recover. The game ended with a Titan loss of 3-0. The varsity is now 2-1 in their overall season.

    The Titans Play Argos

    On August 26, Trinity Titans varsity and junior varsity traveled to Argos to play the Lady Dragons. Argos has been Trinity's biggest rival for many years. The varsity played first, unfortunately losing the game 3-1. The JV played a 40-minute half afterward and solidly defeated the Lady Dragons 3-0, with 2 goals scored by Rachel Cramer and another by Rachel Miro.

    Girls' Varsity Plays Riley

    The varsity girls played on their home field on August 28 against Riley High School. The Trinity girls went into the game without their varsity keeper, Molly Hoover, who sprained her ankle late Friday night. Katie Califano, normally the center midfielder, stepped up to take Molly's place for the game. Katie managed to shut out Riley with the help of the entire varsity team. Tricia Preuss scored 2 goals within the first 8 minutes of the game with assists from Elise Rowland and Katie Was. In the last six minutes of the game, Katie Loughran, Katie Was and Marian DeLee scored a total of four goals. The Titans solidly defeated Riley 6-0.

    Junior Varsity Plays Riley

    The junior varsity also played Riley on Saturday. Molly Kane accomplished a hat trick (three goals in one game), and Marilyn Preuss and Alex Bokhart both scored in the second half. Riley only had one shot on goal, which was deftly saved by Lucy Anderson. It was a wonderful 5-0 victory for the team.
